Maykel Blanco, born in Havana, composer, arranger, percussionist and pianist, becomes a professional musician at 18 years of age, and is, to date, one of the most popular band leaders in Cuba. He makes his debut with his band “Salsa Mayor” on October 10, 2004, dedicating all his creation, talent and energy to this interesting project which quickly became very attractive for those who love dancing and is still admired by Cuban and international audiences and respected by prestigious Cuban musicians. He has always had the clear objective of preserving the roots of Cuban music, with updated sounds, while providing spectators with a fresh, youthful image.    

  In 2016 Maykel created and organized the successful Havana Salsa Festival. This was an unprecedented event in our capital, managing to present in four days the best salsa bands in Cuba to national and international audiences. He also launched his fifth album “Que no me quiten la fe”, reaching number one in several hit lists in Cuba and abroad.
